100% solid birch (Betula pendula) wood wand dyed using beetroot.
Length: Ca 239 mm or 9 3/8″
Diameter: ~9-11 mm
Wood Origin Location: Wollaton, Nottingham (UK)
Harvest Method: Garden prunings
Cut, stripped, carved/shaped, dried, sanded, sanded some more, burned, rubbed with beetroot peelings, dried, sanded a bit again, and finished off with a coating of clear half-mat lacquer to protect the wood and the colour.
I don’t know how fade-resistant beetroot is when applied to wood, so I would advise keeping it out of direct sunlight when not in use.
Colour variations are due to the wood itself.
