100% solid elder (Sambucus nigra) wood wand. The decorations are based on some petroglyphs (rock carving) at Tanum in Bohuslän, Sweden, a UNESCO World Heritage site. One side is a whale, the other is a wheel or a sun, I’m not sure which!
Length: Ca 194 mm or 7 5/8″
Diameter: ~9-12 mm
Wood Origin Location: Wollaton, Nottingham (UK)
Harvest Method: Garden prunings
Cut, stripped, carved/shaped, dried, sanded, sanded some more, burned, sanded a bit again, and finished off with a coating of clear linseed oil to protect the wood.
Colour variations are due to the wood itself.
