The Celtic Tree Calendar
There might or might not be some truth to having a special connection to a certain type of wood depending on when you were born – and who you ask! The actual dates, and in some cases trees, seem a little fluid depending on the source. In any case, here’s a general list of the trees and the periods they rule:
24 Dec – 21 Jan: Birch
22 Jan – 17 Feb: Rowan
18 Feb – 17 Mar: Ash
18 Mar – 14 Apr: Alder
Spring Equinox: Gorse (Furze)
15 Apr – 12 May – Willow
13 May – 9 Jun: Hawthorn
10 Jun – 7 Jul: Oak
Summer Solstice: Heather
8 Jul – 4 Aug: Holly
5 Aug – 1 Sep: Hazel
2 Sep – 29 Sep: Vine
Autumn Equinox: Poplar
30 Sep – 27 Oct: Ivy
28 Oct – 24 Nov: Reed or Elm
25 Nov – 23 Dec: Elder
Day before Winter Solstice: Yew
Winter Solstice: Fir
Day after Winter Solstice: Mistletoe
